MELISSA VOGLEY WOODS

Coming from generations of artists, Melissa Vogley Woods began as a painter before being drawn to sculpture, where she sought a conversation with shape, form, and surface. Ultimately, she found her match when she discovered scagliola, allowing her to create richly patterned designs that echo the strata of marble.

After years of research and learning with scagliolists in the US and Italy to explore the art form's contemporary and conceptual essence, Melissa mastered the craft and has been creating scagliola for nearly a decade. She draws inspiration from architectural forms, botanical shapes, and historical art practices.

As an expert with large-scale scagliola installations, she has worked with artists like Beth Stuart and Nicole Eisenman, and is also skilled in scagliola restoration. From fine art sculptures and wall art to furniture and objects, the possibilities are endless to create designs that are both visually striking and materially resonant.
