As an artisan trained at Van Der Kelen Logelain, the renowned school of decorative painting in Brussels, Sylvie Michel Bilger has created custom finishes for 30 years. After formative years working in Paris and Château de Versailles, she brought her business as a skilled decorative painter to New York City, specializing in fine artistry for private residences.

Sylvie is a joy to work with. Her projects include murals, stenciling, and trompe l'oeil painting among other artisan techniques. She is developing a new line of wallpapers with SuperStrata that we’re thrilled to showcase soon.

It’s fascinating to see inspirations behind her transcendent work, including malachite, marquetry, and a love of mixing contemporary patterns with ornate French designs. Her hand-painted tortoise shell wall panels for the Carlyle Hotel in New York are a perfect example of her talent and vision. From whimsical creations to traditional gold leafing or marbleizing, Sylvie always defines a room.
